The 2000th Test at Lord’s from 21st July 2011 also happens to be the 100th Test between India and England; the first such occasion for India.
Among the 10 test playing countries, England have played most tests (911), while Bangladesh have played least number of tests (68). India is behind England, Australia (730) and West Indies (473) The first test played by each of the 10 test playing countries is as under: England/Australia 1876/77 Melbourne Australia won by 45 runs South Africa 1888 Port Elizabeth vs Eng; England won by 8 wickets West Indies 1928 Lord’s vs Eng; England won by an innings and 58 runs New Zealand 1930 Christchurch vs Eng; England won by 8 wickets India 1932 Lord’s vs Eng; England won by 158 runs Pakistan 1952/53 Delhi vs Ind; India won by an innings and70 runs Sri Lanka 1981/82 Colombo vs Eng; England won by 7 wickets Zimbabwe 1992/93 Harare vs Ind; Match Drawn Bangladesh 2000/01 Dhaka vs Ind; India won by 9 wickets
